The Digital Age

"In teaching others we teach ourselves"  - Proverb

The advent of the digital age has allowed teachers like me and students like you to teach and explore history in a way that's not been done before. Not only will we be exploring the usual historical topics but we are also going to be embarking on a family history project that will be done using the internet, almost exclusively. As such, we are going to be spending a lot less time with textbooks and a lot more time online, exploring it in ways you may not have done before.

As wonderful as the internet can be, it is also full of hidden dangers that can ensnare even the most knowledable digital citizen. This site is meant to be a resource for you. Each page will explore a different aspect of digital citizenship including netiquette, internet safety, copyright laws, plagiarism, and more. At the bottom of each page you will find resources for more information.

Take the time to read the information included on this site. On the "Tech in the Classroom" page, you will find the rules and expectations for the use of technology in our classroom. There is also a copy of the district's Acceptable Technology Use Policy. Take the time to read and understand it. Make sure your parents read and understand it as well.

I'm sure you've all heard "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." This site is our class's ounce of prevention.
